Air Peace said on Sunday that a shortage of Jet A1 aviation fuel at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport caused initial delays to its operations, while its Abuja-Maiduguri service was later cancelled because the flight could not operate beyond sunset.
The airline said the fuel shortage affected Air Peace and other airlines operating from Abuja. Its affected flights resumed after fuel became available, it said.

Air Peace said its Abuja-Maiduguri flight had initially been granted an extension by the control tower in Maiduguri, but the airport later became subject to visual flight rules (VFR) conditions as the airline prepared to board passengers.
The tower subsequently informed the airline that the airport would no longer accept the flight beyond sunset, prompting the cancellation, Air Peace said.

The airline said passengers were kept informed of the delays and provided with refreshments. It also provided hotel accommodation for passengers affected by the Maiduguri cancellation and arranged for the flight to operate the following day.
Air Peace apologised for the disruption and said the safety and wellbeing of its passengers remained its priority in determining its flight operations.
