Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has approved the immediate release of GH¢300 million from the country’s Contingency Fund to support emergency relief and long-term flood mitigation efforts following devastating floods that hit Accra and other parts of southern Ghana, Prime Business Africa reports.
The directive followed torrential rainfall on June 29, which triggered widespread flooding, claiming lives, displacing residents and causing extensive damage to homes, businesses and public infrastructure across several communities.
