IGP Disu Appoints CSP Anietie Iniedu as New Force Public Relations Officer

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), a move aimed at strengthening the Nigeria Police Force’s public communication strategy and deepening public engagement amid ongoing policing reforms, Prime Business Africa reports.

The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Deepening Professionalism In Nigeria’s Police Force

CSP Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, brings to the role extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has undergone professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication and intelligence analysis.

 

Before his appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and led initiatives designed to promote transparency, accountability and public confidence in the police.

He also previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, among other operational and administrative assignments across the country.

His career includes key postings as Operations Officer, Maisandari Division, Yobe State Command; Area Crime Officer, Umuahia Area Command, Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters; Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he oversaw the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.

According to the statement, the IGP expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, noting that his professional background and operational experience would enhance the Force’s strategic communication efforts and strengthen engagement with the public and key stakeholders.

The appointment comes at a time when the Nigeria Police Force is seeking to improve public trust, transparency and communication as part of broader institutional reform initiatives.
