Drone Attack Triggers Fire at Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery

March 19, 2026

A fire broke out at Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery on Thursday morning following a reported drone strike, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that one of the operational units at the refinery, located within Al-Ahmadi Port and managed by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, was targeted by what it described as a “marching plane,” commonly understood to mean a drone.

In a statement carried by KUNA, the corporation said the attack caused a limited fire within the affected unit but did not disrupt broader operations. It added that the incident did not result in any casualties.

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation described the attack as unsuccessful, noting that the situation was quickly brought under control. It added that monitoring efforts are ongoing, and further updates will be communicated through official channels.

While initial reports referenced an Iranian drone, Kuwaiti officials have yet to issue a formal attribution.
