Presidential Election Petition Court has ruled that President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy in the February 25 election cannot be disqualified on the grounds of forfeiture of $460,000 said to be proceeds of drug trafficking in the United States.

The PEPC which is currently sitting at the Appeal Court complex Abuja held that the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, failed to prove that  Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was convicted for money laundering in the United States.

The five-man panel of justices led by  Justice Haruna Tsammani also ruled that Tinubu had previously been cleared by the Nigeria Police of any criminal charge in the United States following an inquiry made to US law enforcement on the said matter.
