The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday elected a new set of national officers during its National Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Professor Nentawe Yilwatda was returned as National Chairman, while Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru emerged as National Secretary at the party’s fourth elective convention.
Their emergence was announced by the convention’s election committee as part of a consensus arrangement that produced several members of the National Working Committee.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe newly elected officials include Ali Bukar Dalori as Deputy National Chairman (North) and Dr Benjamin Obi Nwoye as Deputy National Chairman (South). Professor AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana was elected Deputy National Secretary, while Murtala Aliyu Kankia emerged as National Legal Adviser.
Uguru Mathew Ofoke was named National Treasurer, with Ambassador Haruna Ginsau as National Financial Secretary. Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu was elected National Organising Secretary, alongside Barrister Emeka Okafor as Deputy National Organising Secretary.
Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa emerged as National Welfare Secretary, with Dr Christopher Michael Akpan as Deputy National Welfare Secretary. Felix Morka was elected National Publicity Secretary, while Meseko Durosinmi Josiah will serve as Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
Senator Abubakar Maikafi was elected National Auditor. Dr Mary A. Idele emerged as National Women Leader, with Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim as Deputy National Women Leader. Dayo Israel was elected National Youth Leader, while Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole will serve as National Leader for Persons with Disabilities.
Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo was elected Deputy National Financial Secretary.
The convention also produced National Ex-Officio members representing the six geopolitical zones: Dr Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), Kano Muhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Bunmi Orinowo (South West).
The convention was attended by top leaders of the ruling party, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
