HONEY: Scientific research proves that Honey performs as well or even better than over the counter cough suppressant and the American Academy of pediatrics recommends honey for night time cough for children above the age of 1 because it contains Clostridium bacteria, which is very helpful.

ALOE VERA PLANT: Due to its soothing, moisturizing, and cooling properties, using aloe vera on burns can speed up healing and decrease pain because of the chemical compounds known as Anthraquinones, contained in the plant. An experiment was carried out where 50 participants were asked to use Aloe Vera gel or Silver Sulfadiazine cream to treat superficial and partial thickness burns. The group that used aloe vera showed better results than the group that used silver sulfadiazine cream.

GARLIC: Garlic contains sulfur-containing compounds like Allicin and Ajoene. It also has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic properties from allicin. Allicin helps to kill the bacteria that causes acne. causing acne by inhibiting the growth of the bacteria . The beautiful plant can be used to treat Athletes foot.

RINSING MOUTH WITH SALT AND WATER: Saltwater are great because they create a sort of osmosis effect. In otehr words, the salt concentration draws fluids from your mouth that are painful, and also helps to relieve a painful oral infection.  The saltwater can also break up mucus and irritants and all sorts of fungi from your throat. However, it is recommended that you only gargle no more than two or three times a day, as too much gargling is not good either. Balance is key. You can also use Nasal saline spray to get rid of runny nose.

GINGER: Ginger contains two types of compounds— gingerols and shogaols- and they are thought to act on and speed up digestion. It also has anti-nausea effects, suitable for treating nausea and vomit in pregnancy.

PROBIOTICS: These are good bacterias or yeast cultures like LACTOBACILLUS found in yogurt. They are considered to be strong defenses against “bad” bacteria, such as Clostridium difficile, that can affect the gut. Probiotics were not so popular, but in recent times, more awareness have been created about the bacteria.

Ultimately, natural home remedies are great, and if you are not happy with their results, there is nothing wrong in seeking professional advice from other other avenues.
