Tinubu Set To Attend COP 28 Summit In Dubai

President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday leave Abuja for Guinea-Bissau to attend the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), to hold in Bissau, the nation’s capital, on Sunday.

The trip will mark the second time President Tinubu will represent Nigeria at an international forum since his assumption of office on May 29. He recently returned from France, where he attended a financial summit.

He had, shortly after the opening sessions, embarked on a private visit to the London before his return, an action that  triggered a lot of criticisms and controversy on social media. Tinubu was back to Nigeria  on the even of the Sallah celebrations.

Special Advisor to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Dele Alake, who disclosed Predisent Tinubu’s travel plans on Friday stated that the summit would address memos on urgent sub-regional concerns, including the report of the 50th Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council (MSC) covering security.

“Report of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers’ 90th Ordinary Session on the organization’s financial condition and the execution of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), as well as Report on the state of Transition in the Republics of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea.

“Memoranda on the ECOWAS Single Currency Programme and the Report on Obstacles to Free Movement of Goods on the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor are two other topics that will be discussed,” Alake stated.

According to Alake, President Tinubu will be accompanied by some  members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and other senior government officials.

This time, the President will be back to Nigeria immediately after the meeting
