Watch Video: How Senator Annie Okonkwo Blessed Son Who Just Won Reps Seat Before His Death

As Romeo Anyisia, one of the palace chiefs in in his hometown of Ojoto, Anambra State, puts it, the late Senator Annie Okonkwo, actually “perfected his duty as father by queuing his son Hon. Uche Okonkwo, to his political career and ensuring that he won” the Idemili North/South Federal Constituency during the 25 February election on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

Annie Okonkwo represented the Anambra Central Senatorial District at the 6th Senate.

A video procured by Prime Business Africa shows Annie Okonkwo celebrating with his son after the latter won the election against stronger candidates in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the resident All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).  His son, the lawmaker-elect Uche Okonkwo is seen in the video kneeling before his father and presenting the Certificate of Return amid hugs and words of prayers from the father.

Like the lot of all humans, Chief Okonkwo answered the supreme call of nature weeks after and passed away on Wednesday June 7, 2023, in the United States of America at the age of 63, after a battle with lung cancer.

Late Chief Okonkwo who had the traditional title of Agunechemba I of Ojoto, had on that day the son’s victory was announced, given him doses of fatherly blessings and offered supplications to God for abundant grace to enable Hon. Uche serve his fatherland as he did as Senator between 2007 and 2011.

“Agunechemba perfected his duty as a father as he queued his son to his career and made sure he succeeded in the election. Our God is a perfect planner. May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” a community stated while mourning the man.

Hon. Uche Okonkwo is among the 10th National Assembly lawmakers to be inaugurated on June 13.

A US-based medical practitioner, Mediatrix Chimdi described Chief Okonkwo as a diligent father and a man with vision, who was always ahead of time.

According to him, Okonkwo had hosted Peter Obi in the United States when Obi was yet to trend as a presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and “boom LP became the real deal. He is a visionary, astute politician, intelligent and resourceful,” Chimdi stated.
