Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

Market Cap Gains N13.07 billion, First Bank Sterling Top Trades

At the end of trading on Thursday, the Nigerian stock market capitalisation increased by N13.07 billion from the N26.94 trillion it recorded on Wednesday to N26.96 trillion.

This was driven by the All Share Index which grew by 24 basis points from 49,475.43 ASI to 49,499.43 ASI.

Investors exchanged N3.14 billion on the floor of the Nigerian bourse for 132.57 million shares in 2,999 deals on Thursday. It contrasted with the 411.15 million shares traded in 2,992 deals on Wednesday and worth N6.34 billion. 

Top five gainers 

Julius Berger share appreciated by N2.10kobo to rise from N21.20kobo to N23.30kobo per share  

Champion grew by N0.40kobo, up from N4.30kobo to N4.70kobo per share  

Ardova ended trading with N19 from N17.40kobo per share, rising by N1.60kobo.  

Thomas Wyatt gained 8.82 per cent to end trading at N0.74kobo, having opened with N0.68kobo. 

Japaul Gold stock was up by 7.69 per cent, closing with N0.28kobo from N0.26kobo per share.  

Top five losers 

UPDC REIT depreciated by N0.20kobo, dwindling from N3.10kobo to N2.90kobo per share.  

Lasaco also fell by 5.56 per cent to end trading at N0.85kobo, after opening with N0.90kobo per share.  

UPL followed the same path, losing N0.10kobo after trading hours, to sell at N1.80kobo from N1.90kobo per share. 

Wapic reported a decline of 5 per cent from previous day’s share price of N0.40kobo to end trading at N0.38kobo per share.  

Oando share depreciated to N3.80kobo from N3.90kobo, after losing N0.10 per cent during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in stock exchange 

FBN Holdings reported 29.10 million shares valued at N331.21 million were traded on its floor  

Sterling Bank recorded 18.38 million shares valued at N25.01 million  

Nigerian Breweries saw investors trade 18.38 million of its shares valued at N25.01 million  

GTCO recorded 6.64 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N147.03 million 

Fidelity Bank reported 5.42 million shares valued at N24.14 million exchanged investors’ hands.
