10th National Assembly:  We’ve No Zoning Arrangement Yet – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied releasing any list of zoning arrangements for leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly.

In a statement signed by the APC national publicity secretary, Felix Muoka, the party distanced itself from a purported list of zoning arrangements for the 10th Assembly circulating on social media.

Muoka said the party is yet to make any decision about zoning positions of principal officers of the 10th Assembly and urged the public to disregard the list as it is “fake.”

The statement read: “The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to versions of zoning arrangements for the 10th National Assembly leadership positions in circulation in sections of social media.

“The information did not emanate from the Party and should be disregarded.

“To be clear, the Party has yet to zone positions of leadership of the 10th National Assembly. Any decisions made in that regard will be duly communicated via the Party’s official information channels.”

The issue of zoning positions of principal officers of the 10th National Assembly has continued to gain prominence since the conclusion of the general elections. A number of newly elected lawmakers from different geo-political zones, especially within the ruling APC are indicating interest in various positions.

Top among them are the positions of the Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reportedly told APC governors who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Thursday to work with the lawmakers in the election of principal officers.
