The Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has won in the entire 17 local government areas of Enugu State.

According to the result declared by the collation officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Obi won a total of 428,640 to defeat other contenders. This score is equivalent of 95 percent of the total votes cast for the presidential election in the state on Saturday.

The collation officer of the presidential election in Enugu State and Vice Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, declared the results of the election.

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, came a distant second with  15,749 votes, while his counterpart, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, scored 4,772 votes, to take third position.

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, polled a total of 1,808.

According to the collation officer, a total of 2,112,793 voters were registered for the election, while accredited voters for the election were 482,990.

He added that the total valid votes are 456,424, rejected votes 12,467 and total votes cast were 468,891 respectively.
