EFCC Moves To Appeal Jang, Pam’s N6.3bn Fraud Acquittal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it will appeal the judgement of the Plateau State High Court which discharged and acquitted former governor of the state, Jonah David Jang and and a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (OSSG), Yusuf Pam.

Justice Christy Dabup of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos on Friday discharged and acquitted Jang and Pam of charges levelled against them by the EFCC over alleged misappropriation of fund to the tune of N6.3 billion in the state.

A statement released on Friday signed EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, stated that the commission had initiates process of the appeal.

The statement reads, “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been drawn to the Friday, September 2, 2022 judgment of Justice C. L. Dabup of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, discharging and acquitting a former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah David Jang and a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, OSSG, Yusuf Pam, of the seventeen-count charges bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of Plateau State funds to the tune of N6.3 billion.

“The Commission has initiated processes for an Appeal immediately.”

Prime Business Africa had reported that the former governor, Jang and the ex-cashier in the OSSG of Plateau State, Pam, were on Friday morning discharged and acquitted of the 17 counts charges preferred against them by the EFCC.
