Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” Album – First African Album To Go Gold

It was recently discovered that Nigerian artiste, Wizkid is the first African with an album to qualify for a Gold in the US and is the first African album to hit this milestone ever!

This album was released in 2020 and was greatly accepted all over the world; people loved it far and near and made sure to stream and enjoy what they considered to be good music. He featured a whole bunch of Nigerian artistes on that album like Burna Boy, Tems (who also broke into a wider audience reach from this), HER, Ella Mai and others.

He followed up the release of this song with a tour where people were singing along to their favorite music and tracks off the album. The song became the highest-charting single on the billboard Hot 100 by an African act peaking at number eleven on Billboard Hot 100. It also easily became the first African album on the Spotify Global Album chart, positioning itself among the top ten songs on that chart. The album gained and even superseded 100 million streams across five platforms nine days after release, a rare milestone for Afro-pop artiste.

It held a certification of Silver in the UK with 60,000 unit sales before it now proceeded to be eligible for a Gold with over 500,000 sales in the US.
