Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, have thwarted a major terrorist attack and recorded a series of operational successes across the North-East theatre, including the arrest of suspected collaborators and the rescue of kidnapped victims.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military said troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Gajibo repelled a coordinated attack launched by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.

According to the statement, the terrorists advanced towards the town from different directions on motorcycles and with support weapons but were detected early by troops, who responded with heavy firepower and mortar bombardments.
“The swift response forced the attackers to withdraw in disarray,” the statement said, adding that troops later recovered ammunition and other combat accessories during follow-up exploitation operations. No casualty was recorded among the troops.
The military also disclosed that troops, working alongside operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force, arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Gubio town. The suspects, identified as cattle rearers, are currently undergoing investigation.
In a related operation, troops acting on intelligence provided by a surrendered terrorist associate arrested a suspected logistics supplier, Umar Ahmadu, in Gwoza. The suspect reportedly confessed to supplying items to terrorists on several occasions and is currently under interrogation.

The statement further revealed that a 17-year-old relative of a terrorist surrendered to troops along the Gwoza–Limankara axis after fleeing a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains.
Preliminary investigations indicated that sustained military offensives and worsening living conditions within the enclave contributed to the teenager’s decision to surrender.
Meanwhile, troops also rescued two male kidnap victims intercepted after escaping from captivity near Mafa town under poor visibility conditions. The victims have since been handed over for medical evaluation and further necessary action.
The Joint Task Force said the operations underscore the sustained pressure being mounted against terrorist elements, their logistics networks and support structures across the North-East.
It added that troops remain vigilant and committed to maintaining an aggressive operational posture aimed at defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability in the region.
