The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), says intensified military operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have compelled a fresh group of senior insurgent leaders to surrender, marking another breakthrough in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, Prime Business Africa reports.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the latest surrender followed sustained offensives backed by credible, timely and actionable intelligence across the North-East theatre of operations.

According to the statement, the surrendered individuals include key members of the ISWAP leadership network who abandoned their enclaves in the face of relentless military pressure. They are currently in a secure location undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in line with operational protocols.
The military said the development underscores the impact of its sustained offensive, which has continued to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt command and logistics structures, and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the theatre.
It added that persistent operations have significantly degraded the terrorists’ combat capabilities while eroding morale and confidence within their ranks and leadership.

Operation HADIN KAI further disclosed that, within the past week alone, 76 terrorist foot soldiers, along with some of their family members, surrendered to troops operating in the region.
The task force attributed the latest gains to its comprehensive counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency strategy, which combines precision combat operations, intelligence-led engagements and coordinated joint efforts with security partners.
It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on the remaining terrorist elements until they are either neutralised or compelled to surrender, with the ultimate goal of restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
