According to the governors, the trust fund will provide sustained financial support for intelligence gathering, logistics, capacity building and other strategic interventions designed to complement the operations of security agencies across Northern Nigeria.

The establishment of the fund represents one of the region’s most ambitious collective security initiatives in recent years, underscoring the determination of Northern leaders to confront the growing threats posed by terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.

Beyond strengthening security operations, the monthly funding commitment is expected to enhance coordination among state governments, traditional institutions and federal security agencies, while providing a dedicated financing mechanism to improve safety, protect livelihoods and support socio-economic development across the region.
