IDF Alleges Hezbollah Stored Weapons in Southern Lebanon School After Shayetet 13 Raid

March 27, 2026

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has claimed that its elite naval commandos uncovered a substantial cache of weapons allegedly linked to Hezbollah during a raid on a school in southern Lebanon, according to a report by The Times of Israel.

In a statement, the military said operatives from Shayetet 13 carried out the mission in the town of Khiam after receiving intelligence suggesting that arms were being stored within the educational facility.

According to the IDF, the unit moved on the site and recovered what it described as a large stockpile of weapons. The items reportedly included anti-tank missiles, mortars, grenades, rocket launchers, assault rifles, land mines and explosive devices.

The military said the cache ran into the hundreds, portraying the find as evidence of what it alleges is Hezbollah’s continued use of civilian locations for military purposes.

It further claimed that materials bearing the insignia of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) were discovered at the location alongside the weapons, without providing additional details on how the items were linked to the site.

The development comes against the backdrop of heightened cross-border tensions, as Israeli forces intensify operations in southern Lebanon, targeting what they describe as Hezbollah’s military infrastructure.

There has been no independent confirmation of the IDF’s claims from Lebanese authorities, the United Nations and Hezbollah has also not publicly responded to the allegation as of press time.

The use of civilian infrastructure, including schools, in armed conflict remains a highly sensitive issue.

As of the time of filing this report, the account remains based on the Israeli military’s statement as reported by The Times of Israel.
