The 137.5 per cent year-on-year increase highlights stricter enforcement of passenger rights.

The civil aviation regulator noted that this surge reflects improved compliance with consumer protection regulations under Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023, which mandates timely refunds for flight disruptions.

NCAA further disclosed that Aero Contractors also spent ₦6.08 million on hotel accommodations from January to July 2025 for stranded passengers at verified hotels like Cocos Hotel, Grand Cubana Hotel, Abuja, NOCY Castle Hotel, Kim Royal Hotel, JC42 Apartment (Asaba), Mayor & Diplomat Hotel, Lagos.

While acknowledging the peculiar challenges of the operating environment, the Authority assured that it will continue to protect the rights of all stakeholders.

The notable increase in refunds demonstrates Aero Contractors’ commitment to passenger rights and NCAA compliance.
