Okpebholo Hosts APC Governors in Benin, Seeks United Front For National Development

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Friday, played host to his counterparts in the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) as the ruling party’s regional leadership converged on Benin City for a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening sub-national governance and accelerating President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The gathering, held in the ancient city of Benin, attracted over 20 governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Discussions focused on economic collaboration, security, infrastructure, and governance alignment among APC-led states.

“A Defining Moment”- Okpebholo

In a message shared ahead of the meeting, Governor Okpebholo described the event as a “defining moment” for Nigeria’s progressive movement.

He said hosting the PGF in Edo was a “strong statement of our shared commitment to Nigeria’s development.”

Key Issues Discussed

According to him, the meeting was to highlight ways of deepening interstate collaboration on governance issues and also working towards realising the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Okpebholo noted that the governors held strategic deliberations aimed at deepening policy coordination among APC-led states, enhancing regional security and community policing, fast-tracking infrastructure and rural development, and aligning budgets and reforms with Tinubu’s economic vision.

“We held strategic meetings focused on strengthening governance, deepening collaboration, and charting clear paths to move our country forward under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” Okpebholo stated in a post via X handle.

Some of the APC governors who attended the meeting include: Hope Uzodinma (Imo) – PGF Chairman, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Prince Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi),  Umar Bago (Niger), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe).

The gathering featured both open and closed-door sessions focused on strengthening state-level implementation of national policies.
