The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has denied being involved in any fresh plot to dethrone the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
Ganduje’s denial followed a viral report on social media that he’s leading a fresh plot to dethrone Sanusi.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelPrime Business Africa recalls that Sanusi, who is a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was dethroned under Ganduje’s administration in the state.
He was reinstated in May this year by the current governor Abba Yusuf following repeal of a section of Kano State Emirate Law that had created more emirate councils and paved the way for Ganduje to remove Sanusi from the throne.
Since Sanusi’s reinstatement there have been controversies in the Kano Emirate as the Emir Aso Bayero battles to remain on throne.

The report quoted sources within the Kofar Kudu Palace saying that “powerful individuals in Kano”, allegedly led by Ganduje, are plotting the removal of Sanusi.
However, Ganduje in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant On Public Enlightenment, Chief Oliver Okpala, said that as ex-governor, he has nothing to do with the Emirship of Kano.
His statememt reads: “Ganduje has nothing to do with the present enthronement or dethronement of Emir Mohammad Sanusi in Kano. It should be noted that he is no longer the executive governor or the speaker of the House of Assembly and therefore cannot have anything to do further with the Emirship of Kano.
“It is laughable that Ganduje who has left office as governor for some years now would be accused of masterminding a fresh plot to remove or enthrone an Emir. He is now very busy with leading the APC. He is satisfied with the enormous contributions he made in terms of massive dividends of democracy, infrastructural developments, and the good governance he provided while he held sway as governor.
“Those who are behind this sinister move to malign the APC national chairman have revealed the clandestine and dangerous motive of the sponsors to create bad blood between Ganduje and the presidency.
“Let me reiterate here that he has great respect for the national leader of the party, President Bola Tinubu. The relationship has been very cordial and no amount of blackmail can destroy the solidity of the partnership.”
