AUC, AFRIMA Appoint PWC To Monitor Award Votes

AHEAD of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2021, African Union Commission (AUC) and International Committee of AFRIMA have appointed renowned international auditor, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to audit its voting processes and applications.

This was announced at a joint press conference and unveiling ceremony held at the PWC Experience Centre in Lagos, on Wednesday.

While announcing the appointment of PwC for the audit role, the Head of Culture, Social Affairs Division, African Union Commission, Angela Martins, said PWC will not just audit, but also track and monitor the voting process leading to the awards, adding that the engagement will help to enhance and validate the integrity and transparency of the AFRIMA platform.

“We wish to appreciate PwC for partnering and embarking on the AFRIMA journey with us,” Martins said.

Similarly, the President and Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mr. Mike Dada, said, “The engagement of PwC is to assure music fans, artistes and professionals in the music industry in Africa of the authenticity, independence and integrity of the AFRIMA’s voting process through the appointment of a globally renowned and credible third party to monitor, collate votes and deliver results at the award ceremony.”

The voting process for AFRIMA 2021 commenced on Monday, September 27, 2021 and will end on Friday November 20, 2021. The event will be held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, Nigeria from November 19 to 21, 2021 with a live broadcast on 84 television stations in 109 countries.

AFRIMA Awards is an annual event done in collaboration with AUC to celebrate and reward talents and creative works of music in Africa since 2014.
