The Cultural Credibility Development Initiative (CCDI) has described the death of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as a huge loss to Igboland and Nigeria in general.

In a statement signed by CCDI president, Chief Goddy Uwazurike, Secretary, Steve Nwabuko, the group said the news of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s death came with a rude shock.

Prime Business Africa has reported that Iwuanyanwu, who was the ninth President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, died at the age of 82 after a brief illness on Thursday.

The credibility group stated that the Ohanaeze leader was a bridge builder both politically, socially, and economically, and worked very hard to unite Igbo people of all cleavages and dialects.

“The news of your death came to us with a rude shock on the afternoon of Thursday, 25th July, 2024. Ndigbo Worldwide have lost a great man,”the group stated.

Highlighting Iwuanyanwu’s exploits in business and politics, the group described him as a “Corporate titan”, “astute politician”, and a “worthy Igbo leader of note,” adding that he “bestrode Nigeria like a colossus”.

“You worked very hard to unite Umuigbo of all cleavages, language and dialect together under one conglomerate Alaigbo.

“You commanded the respect of all the five South East Governors on personal stature, erudition, experience, clout, recognition and pedigree.

“No door could be shut at your appearance in any state or institution in Nigeria,” Credibility Group added.

The group also noted that Iwuanyanwu made significant efforts to draft a new constitution for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide which is still in progress and urged Ohanaeze executive team to work towards completing and presenting it as a “brand new Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Ohanaeze constitution for Ndigbo.”
