In her first campaign rally as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming November election, US Vice-President Kamala Harris took direct aim at her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, indirectly listing the different offences the former President is in court for.
The rally, held in the crucial swing state of Wisconsin, marked a fiery start to Harris’s campaign after her Principal, Biden, pulled out of the race due to concerns mounting from top party members over his age and fitness.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelDrawing on her extensive background as a former attorney in California, Harris did not hold back in her critique of Trump. “In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds: predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain,” Harris stated. “So, hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type.”
Her comments were met with chants of “lock him up” from the crowd, a pointed echo of the “lock her up” chants often heard at Trump’s rallies during his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton. Harris emphasized the forward-looking nature of her campaign in contrast to Trump’s, saying, “Our campaign is focused on the future, while Trump’s is focused on the past.”

The choice of Wisconsin for Harris’s first rally is strategic, given its importance as a swing state and the site of the Republican National Convention last week, where Trump was officially nominated. “The path to the White House goes through Wisconsin,” Harris declared. “You helped us win in 2020, and in 2024 we will win again.”
Harris’s campaign team underscored their commitment to Wisconsin, announcing 48 coordinated offices across 43 counties in the state and a ground force of roughly 160 full-time staffers dedicated to mobilizing support for Harris and the Democratic Party ahead of the November election.
The Vice-President, 59 is enjoying a fresh start to her campaign as top Democrats are rallying round her with their support and her campaign announcing a 100 Million campaign fund, the first of it kind since 2020.
