THERE was high expectation that the Anti-open Grazing bill would receive accelerated attention by the Imo State House Assembly on resumption of its eight-week recess. But the reverse was the case, as the House resumed plenary on Thursday and subsequently adjourned sitting to October 28, 2021 without considering any bill.
The Speaker, who disclosed that the adjournment was because of some exigencies, however, urged his colleagues and staff of the Assembly to remain committed to effective service delivery.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelHe also charged the House correspondents on objective reportage, adding that the Assembly under his leadership would continue to legislate for the progress and development of the state and her people.
“Honourable members as we return after our recess, I implore us to put more efforts and commitment to our legislative work so that we will be able to deliver more dividends of democracy to the good people of Imo State who gave us their mandate.
“To staff of this Honourable house, I request you to be ready to move at our pace as we are in a haste to accomplish a lot this session.
“I also want to use this opportunity to welcome members of the press and urge them to be more objective and apply professionalism in their coverage of events of this house.” Emeziem said.
The five weeks adjournment is an addition to eight weeks the House had been on recess.
