NATIONAL Industrial Court sitting in Abuja has ordered Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), to suspend strike embarked on by the association.

Justice Bashir Alkali, of the court, gave the order after he had heard from all the parties in the matter of a suit filed by Federal Government to challenge the legality of the strike action.

NARD began the strike since August 2, 2021 to make government look into their demands and resolve it.

The court had on Wednesday advised parties in the matter to negotiate terms of settlement.

The Federal Government, alongside Federal Ministry of Health, had argued that resident doctors embarked on the strike, without proper notice as provided by the laws.

It argued that members of NARD, who are “essential services providers”, were prohibited by law from embarking on strike.
