Arvind Pathak, the Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, has implored professional builders across the country to make quality materials their priority in construction projects.
He delivered this message during the 32nd Lagos Builders Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Building, which centered on the theme of “Safe and Sustainable Building Production Management in Nigeria.”

He not only emphasized the responsibility of professional builders but also urged them to ensure that associated artisans working with them adhere to these high standards.
Mrs. Sanni further stressed the broader implications, stating, “We are all builders; if you are not building a house, you are building a family, you are building a career.”
She equated the consequences of using inferior materials to a shaky foundation in any life endeavor. “Once you begin to deploy inferior materials to make money for yourself, surely the structure will give way,” she asserted.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Building, Builder, Lucky Isename, acknowledged the role of the construction industry in national development and growth. He highlighted the challenges posed by the rapid urbanization and population growth in Nigeria, leading to increased construction activities but also the disturbing issue of building collapses due to poor construction practices and substandard materials.
Isename affirmed the need for collective action to address these concerns and prioritize safety as well as sustainability in the construction industry.
