The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced an assessment tour of South-South states in Nigeria to determine the strength of the party in the geo-political zone and work towards securing victory during the 2023 general elections.

The APC National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Hon. Victor Giadom on Saturday led members of the zonal working committee on a fact-finding and assessment visit to Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The visit to Delta State marked the official kick-off of the party’s evaluation tour of the six states in the South-South zone, which is aimed at interfacing with leaders and critical stakeholders of the APC to ascertain the health of the party in the geopolitical zone, for purposes of securing victory in 2023.

At the town hall meeting held in Asaba, the party’s Zonal Chairman, Chief Victor Giadom while addressing Delta APC stakeholders, disclosed the tour which is at the behest of the national secretariat, is designed to enable first-hand understanding of issues that may inhibit the electoral success of the APC and areas they need to improve upon.

Giadom noted that the zonal working committee was in Asaba to listen to all the party stakeholders and will collate reports from the tour for critical evaluation of happenings in each state and come up with ways of resolving every single issues identified, with a view to securing victory for the presidential, governorship, national and state assembly candidates of the party in the states during the election next year.

With the election campaign set to begin in two weeks’ time, Giadom said, “This means that we are getting very close to action time and it becomes important for us as a political party to come back to our respective states to critically evaluate what is happening in our respective states so that we can report to the center and be able to fashion out what will be necessary, including the messages and the things that we need to do to enable us to secure victory.”

“It is in that regard,” he added, “that we are here to meet with our leaders; to meet with all of you who are stakeholders of this party, to clearly understand what is happening in Delta state, what should we do better than we are doing now, how do we work together to ensure victory for our presidential candidate in Delta State, what should we do to ensure that the Governor of Delta State come 2023 is APC, what do we do to return our candidates for senate, house of representatives and the house of Assembly to APC”.

Hon. Giadom applauded the members of the APC Delta State Chapter for their unity of purpose and efforts in massively mobilising support for the party in the state and urged them to continue with the task of rebuilding and blocking all loopholes of disunity in the party, noting that the unity and victory of APC is a collective responsibility.

“Since there is a need for us to be in this party, it, therefore, behooves on all of us to put in our very best to ensure that we win our elections in 2023, to ensure that the presidential candidate or our party wins in Delta, to ensure that our Governorship candidate of APC wins in Delta state, to ensure that we remove PDP out of Delta State and bring good governance to Delta State. That is my responsibility; that is our responsibility; that is the responsibility of the party at the center”.

“I want to thank the chairman of this party and other leaders of this party for the unity that we have achieved so far. But to me, I want to make sure that we have one united party; that is our commitment, that is our desire and we will vigorously pursue that to ensure we have victory in the state”.

“But important is to hear from all of us, what can we do, what are those things we can do together and improve on our present situation. You will agree with me that it is the collective unity, the collective hard work of all of us here that will secure the victory of this party.”

He pledged to listen to the party leaders and other stakeholders to gain a better understanding of issues that can help the party secure victory in states in the geo-political zone.

“So, I will listen more and allow leaders of this party to speak more. Let us talk among ourselves and see what we can report back to the party at the centre as the things that we have found out in Delta state that will help us win the election”, Giadom concluded.
