Zenith Bank, Skyway Aviation Drag Down NGX Market Cap By N577.40bn

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, decreased to N121.55 trillion on Tuesday, February 17, from the N122.12 trillion recorded on Monday, February 16.

This represents a decline of N577.40 billion in the market capitalisation, driven by a 0.47 percent depreciation in the all-share index (ASI).

The index shed 899.5 basis points from Tuesday’s 190,262.44 ASI to drop to 189,362.94 ASI.

The volume of shares traded on the NGX increased to 1.19 million in 86,607 deals, valued at N60.19 billion, compared to the previous day’s 1.07 billion shares exchanged in 64,821 deals, valued at N64,02 billion.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2032S7’s share price increased by N14 to rise from N100 to N114 per share.
  • Associated Bus Company’s share value grew by N0.82 kobo, from N8.25 kobo to N9.07 per share.
  • ZICHIS Agro ended trading at N13.06 per share, from N11.88 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.18 kobo.
  • Redstar Express’ share appreciated by N2.65 kobo to end trading at N29.50 kobo, having opened with N26.85 kobo.
  • Meyer Paint’s share value was up by N2.05, after closing at N22.95 kobo from N20.90 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Mecure’s share price depreciated by N10.40 kobo, dwindling from N104 to N93.60 kobo per share.
  • Skyway Aviation recorded a N13 decline in its share price to end trading at N117 after opening with N130 per share.
  • Zenith Bank lost N8.95 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N80.55 kobo from N89.50 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe recorded a N1.56 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N14.12 kobo after opening with N15.68 kobo per share.
  • Tripple Gee reported a decline of N0.65 kobo from the previous share price of N6.65 kobo to end trading at N6 per share.

  • Access Holdings reported that 103.48 million shares valued at N2.71 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 93.09 million shares valued at N8 billion.
  • Japaul Gold saw investors trade 73.78 million of its shares valued at N223.57 million.
  • First HoldCo recorded 54.32 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.64 billion.
  • NSLTECH reported that traders exchanged 45.92 million shares valued at N83.29 million.
