We’ll  Do Everything Possible To Imortalise Herbert Wigwe - Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured that his government would do everything possible to imortalise the legacies left behind by the former GCEO of Access Holdings, Dr Herbert Wigwe, who died recently in a helicopter crash in the United States of America.

Governor Fubara made the promise during a funeral service held in honour of Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son, Chizi, in Isiokpo, Rivers State on Saturday.

He promised to do everything within the power of his administration to support in ensuring that the dream of the deceased in establishing  Wigwe University and other legacy projects is realised.

The governor lauded the good qualities that Wigwe was known for and how he made wealth and had access to many places, and personalities across the world even without being in the political class.

Reflecting on the mystery of life and how Wigwe, his wife and son died, Governor Fubara called on fellow politicians to pause and think about their actions and focus on how they can impact positively on people’s lives even when they are gone.

The burial of Wigwe, his wife and son is taking place today in his hometown of Isiokpo in Rivers State.

In his remarks during the church funeral service, Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed condolences to the family of Wigwe. He prayed to God to grant Wigwe’s children left behind and the aged parents the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He urged all to emulate the virtues exhibited by Wigwe that saw him attain the enviable height he did.

The solemn event attracted the attendance of several dignitaries, including the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, his formal counterpart, Bukola Saraki; former Emir of Kano and CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi Lamido; Labour Party president candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi; former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amechi; Bayelsa State, Governor, Duoye Diri; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno; Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti.

Others are former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and a host of other personalities both from the political and business world who were present to give final their farewell to Wigwe.
