The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that the country’s security challenges will be overcome through sustained efforts by the Federal Government, security agencies and support from international partners, Prime Business Africa reports.
Speaking during her first official visit to Ekiti State on Saturday, the First Lady said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was working tirelessly to address insecurity and restore peace across the country.
She made the remarks during a meeting with the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House in Ado Ekiti.

Describing the security situation as troubling, Senator Tinubu said Nigeria was receiving support from countries including the United States and France in tackling insecurity.
“The US, for example, is helping. France is helping too, and some other developed countries,” she said, adding that some aspects of the security efforts could not be disclosed because they were classified.
The First Lady expressed confidence that the country’s challenges would soon be overcome, stressing that Nigeria remained too blessed and too important to be intimidated by its present difficulties.
“We cannot give up on Nigeria,” she said, urging citizens, particularly women, to remain hopeful and prayerful.
The Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council and Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, commended President Tinubu for policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
The monarch, however, called for stronger action against insecurity, citing incidents of kidnapping in Ekiti State and other parts of the country.
He said he remained confident in the President’s leadership, recalling his achievements during his tenure as governor of Lagos State.
As part of her visit, Senator Tinubu distributed a N100 million Business Recapitalisation Grant to 2,000 women petty traders in Ekiti State, with each beneficiary receiving N50,000.
She said the grant was intended to support women-owned businesses, strengthen family livelihoods and promote economic growth at the grassroots level.

The First Lady also highlighted several interventions implemented in Ekiti State under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). These include annual scholarships worth N1 million and laptops for selected students from each state of the federation, the donation of 10,000 exercise books to public schools in 2024, and bursary awards under a partnership between RHI and the Federal Ministry of Education.
According to her, Ekiti State received 100 beneficiaries under the 2024 bursary programme, while 40 students from the state secured places in the 2025 scholarship scheme for students from 200-level to PhD level.
She added that the RHI launched an Environment Club in the state in November 2025 and distributed 10,000 packs of sanitary pads to schoolgirls under its “Flow with Confidence” initiative.
During the visit, Senator Tinubu also announced a cash reward of N200 million for the two best graduating students, one male and one female, of Ekiti State University following the commissioning of the TETFund-sponsored ICT Experience Centre.
The First Lady was accompanied by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji.
Political leaders at the event also urged residents to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the state’s forthcoming governorship election and President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
