US Election 2024 in Focus
The US Election 2024 is heating up, and one of the most talked-about events recently was the conversation between Elon Musk and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
The much-anticipated discussion took place on Musk’s platform, X, but was marred by technical glitches, raising questions about the platform’s readiness for such high-profile events.

On Monday, as the US Election 2024 draws closer, Elon Musk hosted a live conversation with Donald Trump on X, a platform previously known as Twitter.
The event was billed as a significant moment in Trump’s re-election campaign, but it faced an unexpected hurdle—technical issues that delayed the conversation by more than 40 minutes.
Many users reported problems accessing Livestream, leading Musk to blame a “massive DDoS attack on X.” A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack involves overwhelming a website with traffic, making it difficult to access.
However, experts like Anthony Lim, Director of the Centre for Strategic Cyberspace and International Studies in Singapore, questioned this explanation. “It is unlikely that a DDoS attack would target just one service on a platform,” Lim explained.

The glitches reminded many of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ failed campaign launch on X in May 2023, which similarly experienced technical difficulties.
Musk and Trump Discuss Key Issues
Despite the rocky start, the conversation eventually took place, with Musk asking Trump a series of friendly questions on topics critical to the US Election 2024, such as immigration and inflation.
Trump, in response, reiterated his stance on various issues, including his desire to implement an “Iron Dome” missile defense system in the US, similar to Israel’s.
He also hinted at possibly closing the federal Department of Education, suggesting that education should be managed by individual states.
Elon Musk, who has recently emerged as a significant figure in the political landscape, expressed his support for Trump during the conversation.
“America is at a fork in the road, and you are on the path to prosperity,” Musk told Trump, emphasising the stakes of the US Election 2024.
Musk’s endorsement of Trump is notable, especially given their previously strained relationship. The two had exchanged online barbs in the past, but on Monday, their interaction was notably cordial.
Trump’s Response to Criticism and Future Plans
Throughout the conversation, Trump made several unsubstantiated claims, particularly regarding the 2020 election, which went unchallenged by Musk.
This has led to criticism from various quarters, who argue that such claims could undermine the integrity of the US Election 2024.
Trump also addressed the recent assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania, vowing to enhance national security if re-elected.
His voice sounded slightly different during the conversation, leading some to speculate about his health. However, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign dismissed these concerns, stating, “His voice is no different from normal.”
The Impact of the Conversation on the US Election 2024
As the US Election 2024 approaches, the relationship between Musk and Trump, as well as the technical glitches on X, could play a significant role in shaping public opinion.
Musk’s platform, X, has increasingly become a space for political discourse, and his endorsement of Trump may influence voters.
The conversation on X highlighted the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for both candidates.
With Vice-President Kamala Harris entering the race after President Joe Biden stepped aside, the competition is expected to be fierce. Musk’s involvement in the election, both as a tech mogul and political influencer, adds a new dimension to the race.
The Road to November
The US Election 2024 is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable in recent history. As Trump seeks to secure a second term, and with Musk’s growing influence in the political arena, the dynamics of this election are continually evolving.
The conversation on X, despite its technical issues, underscores the importance of digital platforms in modern political campaigns and the crucial role they will play as November approaches.
