Yuletide: Travelers Benefiting 50% Discount On Inter-state Transport Fare - Nigerian Govt

In response to President Bola Tinubu’s gesture to ease the burden of transport costs on Nigerians during the festive season, about 128 travelers were among the beneficiaries of slashed transport fares, experiencing a brighter holiday journey.

The initiative, aimed at offering a 50% discount on inter-state travel, unfolded as a beacon of hope for many Nigerians.

The collaboration between the Association of Luxury Bus Owners (ALBON) and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) played a pivotal role in actualizing the president’s directive.

Clement Okuefuna, overseeing the reimbursement process at the Area 1 motor park in Abuja, ensured passengers received their refunds promptly upon boarding designated vehicles.

The concerted efforts of ALBON and NURTW facilitated a seamless operation. On Christmas Day, 16-seater buses bound for Gombe, Bauchi, Yola, and Maiduguri commenced loading passengers as early as 5 am, with travelers benefiting from the reduced fares before embarking on their journeys.

The Ministry of Transportation’s Situation Room Monitoring Team reported the successful execution of the initiative, indicating that the last 16-seater passenger bus received half of the transport fares refunded to passengers heading to Bauchi and Maiduguri at the Area 1 Motor Park in Abuja.

This heartening development showcases the impact of the President’s transport palliative, fostering a sense of optimism for a brighter future among 128 grateful Nigerians.

As the nation moves forward, this initiative stands as a testament to the potential for positive change in improving accessibility for all.
