4. External debt servicing rises to $2.78bn — CBN report
Nigeria’s debt servicing in the first seven months of this year rose by 53.63 per cent, or $971.47m, to $2.78bn, up from the $1.81bn recorded in the same period in 2023.

5. Paralympics: Nigeria’s Eniola Wins First Medal
Eniola Bolaji has become the first African athlete to win a medal in Para-Badminton, securing a bronze medal for Nigeria in the Women’s Singles SL3 category.
Bolaji defeated her Ukrainian opponent, Oksana Kozyna, in straight sets 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) to win Nigeria’s first Paralympics medal in Paris on Monday. Read more
6. Police Place Bounty On Briton, Nigerian Allegedly Plotting to Overthrow Govt
The Nigeria Police Force on Monday declared a Briton, Andrew Wynne, and a Nigerian, Lucky Obiyan, wanted for allegedly plotting to overthrow the democratically elected government of President Bola Tinubu.
Force Public Relations Officer, OluMuyiwa Adejobi, who spoke at a media briefing in Abuja on Monday, said police have placed a N20 million bounty on the suspects.
7. 96% Raw Sugar Refined In Nigeria Imported From Brazil
Not less than 96 per cent of raw sugar refined in Nigeria by three refineries – Dangote, BUA and Golden Penny – is imported from Brazil.
Nasarawa State governor Abdullahi Sule, who made this known when he hosted a delegation led by the Country Director, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Mrs. Dede Ekoue, in the Government House, Lafia, said Nigeria consumed about 1.4 to 1.6 metric tons of sugar.
8. FG hands over 20 CNG buses to Oyo
The Nigerian government has handed over 20 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to the Oyo State Government.
The Chief Executive Officer and Programme Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Micheal Oluwagbemi, conducted the handover on behalf of the federal government at the Pacesetter Transport Service, Eleyele, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
9. Nigerian Govt Arraigns Endbadgovernance Protesters
Nigerian Government, on Monday, arraigned 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters before a federal high court in Abuja.
The protesters, who had been arrested in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe during the protests, were arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on alleged treason, intent to destabilize Nigeria, conspiracy to commit felony and inciting to mutiny. The offence is said to be punishable under section 97 of the penal code.
10. Military destroys 115 illegal refineries, arrests 22 in Rivers, Bayelsa
The Nigerian Army, 6 Division said its troops in conjunction with other security agencies have destroyed about 115 illegal refining sites, 66 boats while 22 suspects were arrested in Rivers and Bayelsa states.
