Tecno, a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, announced its first foldable smartphone, the Phantom V Fold, at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona.

This device is claimed to be the world’s first left-right foldable smartphone and boasts a flagship 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC. Furthermore, the foldable phone features an ultra-clear 5-lens camera system and dual LTPO screens with an adaptive 10Hz -120Hz refresh rate.

Pricing and Availability in Nigeria

Tecno has revealed the Nigerian pricing for the V Fold, but availability in Nigeria is not yet known The foldable phone will be available in two variants: a base 12GB+512GB model listed for ₦ 447,164.56 and a 12GB+256GB variant for ₦502,883.46.

Tecno may also offer an early bird discount for the base V Fold variant, which will be priced at ₦447,164.56. The newly launched V Fold comes in two colour variants, black and white.

Design and Display

The Tecno Phantom V Fold has a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 1080×2550 and a refresh rate of 120Hz when closed. When opened, the device boasts a larger 7.85-inch (2000×2296) main display, which also features a 120Hz LTPO panel. The screen size of the Phantom V Fold is larger than that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Processor and Performance

The Tecno Phantom V Fold is powered by a flagship 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC, which is also used in the Oppo Find N2 Flip. According to the company, the chipset has an AnTuTu test score of over 1.08 million, indicating impressive performance levels.

The foldable smartphone boasts of an ultra-clear 5-lens camera system, with three cameras located at the back and two selfie cameras. The back camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary camera, another 50-megapixel 2x zoom camera, and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera. The two selfie cameras include a 32-megapixel camera on the front screen and a 16-megapixel camera on the inside.

Battery and Charging

The Tecno Phantom V Fold is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging. However, there is no wireless charging option available. According to Tecno, the device can recharge its battery to 40 per cent in just 15 minutes and achieve a full charge in 55 minutes.
