Sahara Group has intensified its push to position sustainability as a core business strategy rather than a corporate social responsibility obligation, unveiling its 2025 Sustainability Report with a renewed focus on operational resilience, cleaner energy practices and long-term social impact across its global businesses.
The report signals a broader intervention by the energy conglomerate to align commercial growth with environmental accountability at a time when pressure is mounting on energy firms to accelerate transition-focused investments and strengthen governance standards.
Themed “Sustainability Beyond XXX: Responsible Growth, Enduring Impact,” the report outlines how the company is embedding sustainability principles across its upstream, midstream, downstream, power generation, energy trading and oilfield services operations.

Speaking on the development, Ejiro Gray, Director of Governance and Sustainability at Sahara Group, said the company’s sustainability model now cuts across its entire energy value chain, with environmental responsibility and governance increasingly shaping operational decisions.
She said Sahara Group was focused on building long-term business value through responsible operations, stronger environmental management systems and sustained social investments.
The report highlighted several measurable outcomes recorded during the period under review, including the avoidance of more than 600,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions through recycling initiatives and the recovery of significant recyclable materials through circular economy programmes.
Sahara Group also disclosed that several of its businesses maintained zero lost-time injury records, supported by over four million man-hours worked safely across operations globally.
Beyond operational metrics, the report underscores the company’s growing intervention in community development, particularly through education and skills acquisition programmes that reached thousands of beneficiaries across multiple markets.
According to Bethel Obioma, Group Head of Corporate Communications, the report reflects a strategic shift toward a “Beyond Energy” framework that positions sustainability as a business imperative tied directly to growth, accountability and long-term resilience.
He said the initiative also reinforces Sahara Group’s ambition to operate as an African-rooted energy company delivering to global sustainability standards.
Within its upstream and oilfield services operations, the company said it continues to prioritise environmental stewardship, operational safety and host community engagement, while integrating sustainability considerations into project planning and asset management processes.
