The governor made the pledge during a meeting with executives of Sahara Energy Group in Akure, where discussions centred on plans to restore the long-idle asset to production.
Aiyedatiwa said reviving the oil field would not only increase Ondo State’s contribution to Nigeria’s target of producing two million barrels of crude oil per day but also unlock economic opportunities for host communities through job creation, infrastructure development and increased government revenue.
He stressed the need to address critical challenges that have hindered production over the years, including infrastructure deficits, operational leakages and obsolete equipment.
According to the governor, the adoption of modern technology and digital systems will be essential to improving efficiency, transparency and productivity across the oil production value chain.
He also assured investors of a peaceful and business-friendly environment, citing ongoing dredging projects and planned infrastructure interventions aimed at improving access to oil-producing communities and production facilities.
“Ondo State remains committed to creating the right conditions for investment and ensuring that operators can carry out their activities efficiently and safely,” the governor said.

Speaking on behalf of Sahara Energy Group, Kola Adesina described the oil field as a stranded asset with substantial untapped potential capable of contributing significantly to national oil output if fully reactivated.
He disclosed that the company is currently conducting technical assessments and integrity tests to determine the scope of work and investment required to return the facility to full production.
According to Adesina, the outcome of the evaluations will guide the next phase of development and help establish the most efficient pathway for restoring operations at the site.
Both parties agreed that increased investment, technological innovation and sustained collaboration between government and industry operators are critical to unlocking the asset’s value and maximising its contribution to the economy.
The planned reactivation comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to raise crude oil production and improve revenues from the petroleum sector. Industry observers say bringing dormant assets back on stream could help expand output, attract capital inflows and deliver long-term economic benefits to oil-producing communities while supporting national energy goals.
