Recurring Injury Rules Out Chelsea’s James For One Month

Initial prognosis revealed, on Wednesday, that Chelsea fullback, Reece James, is set to be on the sidelines for at least one month in the aftermath of the knee injury he sustained during Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Premier League’s Bournemouth.

The injury was sustained on the same spot that troubled him two months earliervand led to his exclusion from England’s World Cup squad.

The 23-year-old lasted only 53 minutes of the contest with the Cherries in what was his comeback appearance, having worked his way back from the knee injury.

Chelsea announced that the England international will be missing for the next month, with a scan confirming that the defender had suffered “a setback” on the same spot as where he had initially sustained the injury.

“Defender Reece James underwent assessment earlier today after being substituted during the second half of last night’s 2-0 Premier League victory over AFC Bournemouth due to a knee injury,” read a statement on Chelsea’s official website.

“Scan results have regrettably confirmed a setback for the 23-year-old, with Reece now set to be ruled out for up to a month.”

Meanwhile Leicester City’s midfielder James Maddison has been ruled out also for his club’s Friday night clash against Liverpool.

The midfielder who was in England’s World Cup squad but never came off the substitute bench in each of the Three Lions’ games until the quarterfinals stage elimination.

Maddison suffered the problem whilst on England’s training base in Doha, Qatar and is set to make a quick return to his club’s games in January 2023.
