Operatives of the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands have rescued five kidnapped victims and neutralised four suspected kidnappers during a joint security operation targeting criminal hideouts in forests along the boundary between the two states, Prime Business Africa reports.
The intelligence-led operation, codenamed Operation KO S’AYE, was launched less than 48 hours earlier to dismantle kidnapping camps and other criminal enclaves around the J3/J4 axis of Ogbere in Ogun State, an area that has become a growing security concern for commuters and residents.

The operation also led to the arrest of four suspected kidnappers and 84 other suspects, while a cache of arms, ammunition and other incriminating exhibits was recovered, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Lagos State Police Command.
The latest breakthrough underscores renewed efforts by security agencies to reclaim forest corridors along the Lagos-Ogun border, which have increasingly been exploited by kidnapping syndicates and other violent criminal groups.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in ensuring there is no hiding place for criminals, especially kidnappers, through intelligence-led operations and sustained security efforts,” the statement said.
It added: “KO S’AYE for criminality. No place for criminalities. The forests are no longer safe havens for criminals.”
One of the rescued victims praised the police for the swift intervention, saying the operatives risked their lives to secure their freedom.
“I thank the Nigerian Police for their bravery and swift action. They risked their lives to enter the forest and rescue us. I appreciate the Commissioners of Police in both Lagos and Ogun states,” the victim said.
“It was surprising to see the Nigerian Police come swiftly to our rescue. We heard gunshots from where we were being held, and the kidnappers immediately fled. We then crawled out of the location where we had been kept.”

Photographs released by the police showed dozens of suspects under security watch, alongside an assortment of recovered weapons, including rifles, shotguns, pistols and ammunition.
The operation comes amid heightened concerns over the increasing threat of kidnapping and other violent crimes in interstate border communities across the South-West, with security agencies intensifying coordinated operations to dismantle criminal networks operating from forest hideouts.
