Authorities in Plateau State have imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North following a Sunday night attack on the Anguwan Rukuba community that left several people dead and others injured.
Residents said gunmen riding motorcycles stormed the area around 7:30 p.m., opening fire and causing panic as people went about their evening activities.
The state government announced the curfew in a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, saying the measure was aimed at preventing further violence in Jos and surrounding areas.

Ramnap described the incident as a “barbaric and unprovoked attack on innocent citizens” and said security agencies were working to apprehend those responsible.
