The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has instructed Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to compensate subscribers who experience poor network quality. This move puts consumers at the center of Nigeria’s telecom ecosystem.
The compensation, in the form of airtime credits, will be calculated based on subscribers’ average spending patterns and location. MNOs will pay for service failures within specific time frames. Tower Companies will also invest in infrastructure upgrades using fines imposed by the Commission.
