A physically challenged man, Salish Zurmi, the only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker in the Zamfara State House of Assembly has alleged that he is being treated as an outsider by his party and fellow lawmakers.

According to Daily Post report Zurmi said he is being maltreated by his fellow Lawmakers in the house because he refused to join them to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) when the state governor, Bello Matawalle and other 23 lawmakers jumped the ship.

He said, “Since then, the lawmakers have been treating anything concerning me with a mere wave of hands. They don’t even see me as a fellow lawmaker” he said.

”This is simply because I refused to decamp to APC.”

He also alleged that his allowances have been withheld for a while.

Zurmi also said his party the PDP, denied him the ticket to  contest for Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal constituency seat in the Federal House of Representatives because he is physically challenged, after he had bought the nomination and expression of interest form worth N2.5 million to contest for the position.

According to him, he is being treated wrongly by his party the PDP because of his “health condition.”

Salish said the party denied him the ticket and picked a consensus candidate for Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal constituency for the 2023 general elections.

He said he wrote to the national secretariat, laying down his complaints but got no reply.

“I even wrote to the National secretariat of the party, complaining of the injustice of the highest order but nothing was done until the time elapsed.”

Zurmi said that despite the mistreatment from his party, he would remain in the PDP.

“But I will not dump PDP and I want the leadership of the party to know that there are serious injustices going on in the party both in the national and State levels,” he said.
