The PDP in a Statement on Tuesday, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calls on all actors in the disagreement in Rivers State to sheathe their swords and allow for a peaceful and amicable resolution of all the issues”.

The NWC also urged all PDP members and supporters to remain calm and gave an assurance that it had commenced processes, using the Party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to ensure that all matters and areas of disagreement were addressed.

It also charged all the party leaders, critical stakeholders and members in Rivers State to close ranks, unite, and focus on the onerous task of governance and the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people.

Prime Business Africa reports that crisis broke out on Monday between members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as they planned to impeach him.

Meanwhile, a section of the Assembly complex had been gutted by fire the previous night.

The governor stormed the Assembly complex demanding to know why they commenced impeachment proceedings against him.
