Over N1.22 trillion was gained in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, on Friday, February 20, as the bourse’s market capitalisation grew to N125.16 trillion, from the N123.93 trillion recorded on Thursday, February 19.

This followed a 1,916.2 basis points gain in the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 193,073.57 ASI to 194,989.77 ASI.

Equity investors exchanged 820.50 million shares, valued at N28.32 billion, in 63,507 deals, compared to the 898.48 million shares they traded on Thursday in 61,953 deals, worth N38,47 billion.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2033S6’s share price increased by N14 to rise from N90.99 kobo to N104.99 kobo per share.
  • Jaiz Bank’s share value grew by N1, from N10 to N11 per share.
  • Fidson Healthcare ended trading at N86.90 kobo per share, from N79 per share – indicating an increase of N7.90 kobo.
  • NPF Microfinance Bank’s share appreciated by N0.57 kobo to end trading at N6.27 kobo, having opened with N79.
  • Deap Capital’s share value was up by N0.69 kobo, after closing at N7.62 kobo from N6.93 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • NSLTECH’s share price depreciated by N0.18 kobo, dwindling from N1.80 kobo to N1.62 kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance recorded a N0.25 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.32 kobo after opening with N2.57 kobo per share.
  • Ellah Lakes lost N1.10 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N12.80 kobo from N13.90 kobo per share.
  • Lotus Hal15 recorded a N15 decline in its share price to end trading at N245 after opening with N260 per share.
  • International Energy Insurance reported a decline of N0.20 kobo from the previous share price of N3.60 kobo to end trading at N3.40 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Mutual Benefit reported that 79.02 billion shares valued at N427.07 million were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 43.98 million shares valued at N3.78 billion.
  • Chams saw investors trade 43.89 million of its shares valued at N181.99 million.
  • AIICO recorded 42.35 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N179.81 million.
  • Veritas Kapital reported that traders exchanged 35.99 million shares valued at N90.54 million.
