Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, is out of Super Eagles forthcoming AFCON qualifier against Mediterranean Knights of Libya at the Nest of Champions Uyo, on October 11.

The on loan former Napoli star, who grabbed a brace in Gala’s 3-3 draw against Kenneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig at the weekend, did not however do that super happy note as he left the field with a thigh strain.

Further assessment according to a report from Turkey indicates that the former Lille star will be out for between four to six weeks, thus ruling him out completely from the two legged match against the Libyans on the 11th at home and 15th away.

Osimhen it will be recalled joined the Eagles camp in Uyo shortly after sorting out his transfer saga that ended with pitching his tent with Galatasaray ahead of the Eagles double header against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

He scored the second goal in Eagles 3-0 thrashing of Cheetahs in Uyo and the second match against Amavubi in Kigali ended in a goalless draw.

With the thigh strain, Austin Eguavoen who is likely to dish out his squad for the coming ties against Libya this week, is likely to leave out Osimhen but is sure to have Ademola Lookman who has continued with his impressive form since the last set of qualifiers. Libya and Nigeria have met five times in the past with Nigeria winning four times and losing once.

The last competitive clash between both sides was Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on October 16, 2018 in Sfax Tunisia.

It was a home game for the Mediterranean Knights but had to be played away from home due to security concerns.

The match ended 3-2 in favour of Nigeria. A brace from Odion Ighalo and a goal from Ahmed Musa did the magic. The two consolation goals for the Knights came from Mohamed Zubya and Ahmed Benali.
