Nigerian Stock Market Cap Plunges By N684bn, Traders Reduce Transactions To N23bn Deals

Over N684.67 billion was lost in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday, with the market capitalisation of the stock market declining to N154.39 trillion, from N155.08 trillion on Friday.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) contracted to 239,085.17 ASI, down from 240,199.24 ASI, representing a loss of 1,114.07 basis points.

The stock market traders exchanged 668.71 million shares in 45,894 deals, worth N23.82 billion, compared to Friday’s 395.37 million shares traded by investors in 36,125 deals, valued at N35.26 billion.

Top Five Gainers

  • Redstar Express’ share price increased by N1.45 kobo, from N14.70 kobo to N16.15 kobo per share.
  • UPL’s share ended trading at N5.25 kobo per share, from N4.80 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.45 kobo.
  • UPDC share value grew by N0.20 kobo, from N3.35 kobo to N3.55 kobo per share.
  • HMCall’s share appreciated by N0.15 kobo to end trading at N4, having opened at N3.85 kobo.
  • Sunu Assurance share value was up by N0.10 kobo, after closing at N3.10 kobo, from N3 per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Lotus Hal15’s share price depreciated by N12.75 kobo, dwindling from N128 to N115.25 kobo per share.
  • International Energy Insurance recorded a N0.38 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.49 kobo, after opening with N3.87 kobo.
  • Neimeth reported a N0.75 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N7.25 kobo, after opening with N8 per share.
  • FGSUK2027S3 lost N8 in its share price, to sell at N90, down from N90 per share.
  • Fidelity Bank reported a decline of N1.20 kobo, from the previous share price of N20, to end trading at N18.80 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Fortis Global Insurance reported that 206.72 million shares valued at N415.70 million were traded on its floor.
  • UBA recorded 89.62million shares valued at N3.97 million.
  • First HoldCo saw investors trade 61.70 million of its shares valued at N7.89 billion.
  • Access Holdings recorded 33.91 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N925.43 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company reported that traders exchanged 26.87 million shares valued at N204.18 million.
