Nigerian Bourse Loses N564bn, Traders Reduce Transactions To N21bn

On Wednesday, the Nigerian stock market declined by N564.90 billion to N157.45 trillion, falling below the N158.01 trillion recorded on Tuesday.

The decline was on the back of the all-share index (ASI) losing 875.17 basis points, as the index fell to 243,927.66 ASI, compared to the 244,802.83 ASI reported the day before.

Investors exchanged 757.75 million shares in 45,975 deals, valued at N21.06 billion, compared to Tuesday’s 1.56 billion shares traded in 53,853 deals, valued at N28.6 billion.

Top Five Gainers

  • Linkage Assurance’s share price increased by N0.16 kobo, from N1.61 kobo to N1.77 kobo per share.
  • Ava Capital share value grew by N0.95 kobo, from N9.95 kobo to N10.90 kobo per share.
  • Fortis Global Insurance’s share appreciated by N0.20 kobo to end trading at N2.80 kobo, having opened with N2.60 kobo.
  • McNichols’ share ended trading at N5.85 kobo per share, from N5.40 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.40 kobo.
  • Wapic share value was up by N0.13 kobo, after closing at N2.49 kobo, from N2.36 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Honeywell’s share price depreciated by N1.80 kobo, dwindling from N18.10 kobo to N16.30 kobo per share.
  • PZ Cussons recorded an N8.25 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N74.75 kobo, after opening with N83.
  • Learn Africa reported a N1 decline in its share price to end trading at N9.40 kobo, after opening with N10.40 kobo per share.
  • Zichis lost N2.10 kobo in its share price, to sell at N20.90 kobo, down from N23 per share.
  • Africa Prudential reported a decline of N1.10 kobo, from the previous share price of N12.90 kobo, to end trading at N11.80 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • FCMB reported that 358.39 million shares valued at N3.94 trillion were traded on its floor.
  • Chams recorded 33.92 million shares valued at N146.72 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 25.33 million of its shares valued at N661.21 million.
  • First HoldCo recorded 21.91 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.77 billion.
  • Linkage Assurance reported that traders exchanged 18.43 million shares valued at N31.53 million.
