NGX Sheds N437.54bn Despite Gains In SCOA, RT Briscoe

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), also known as the stock market, lost N437.54 billion on Thursday, August 28, after the all-share index (ASI) decreased by 691.52 basis points.

NGX disclosed that the all-share index declined from 141,248.76 ASI on Wednesday, August 27, to 140,557.24 ASI.

Consequently, the market capitalisation dropped from N89.37 trillion to N88.93 trillion.

Additionally, equity traders exchanged N28.30 billion for 885.02 million shares in 26,163 deals, compared to the N22.22 billion traded for 682.88 million shares in 28,695 deals on Thursday.

Top five gainers

  • SCOA’s share price increased by N0.55 kobo, to rise from N5.50 kobo to N6.05 per share.
  • RT Briscoe’s share value grew by N0.30 kobo, from N3.06 kobo to N3.36 kobo per share.
  • NEM ended trading at N31.20 kobo per share, from N28.90 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N2.30 kobo.
  • NGX Group gained N4.25 kobo to end trading at N57.80 kobo, having opened with N53.55 kobo.
  • McNichols’ share value was up by N0.25 kobo, after closing at N3.80 kobo from N3.55 kobo per share.

  • Lotus Hal15 share price depreciated by N7.72 kobo, dwindling from N77.43 kobo to N69.71 kobo per share.
  • International Energy Insurance recorded a N0.35 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.29 kobo after opening with N3.64 kobo per share.
  • Omatek lost N0.13 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N1.32 kobo from N1.45 kobo per share.
  • Ellah Lakes reported a decline of N1.27 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N14.95 kobo to end trading at N13.68 kobo per share.
  • Royal Exchange recorded a N0.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2 after opening with N2.15 kobo per share.

  • Access Holdings recorded 102.18 million shares valued at N2.76 billion.
  • GTCO saw investors trade 96.44 million of its shares valued at N8.88 billion.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company recorded 90.82 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N726.59 million.
  • First HoldCo reported that 46.25 million shares valued at N1.50 billion were exchanged by investors.
