The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) increased by N953.69 billion to N103.77 trillion on Friday, January 9.

It grew from the N102.82 trillion reported by the NGX on Thursday, January 8.

The NGX, also known as the Nigerian stock market, experienced a 1,491.52 basis points gain in the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 160,806.56 ASI to 162,298.08 ASI.

Equity investors exchanged N18.52 billion for 624.07 million shares in 43,816 deals, compared to the N16.44 billion traded in 44,410 deals for 645.06 million shares on Thursday.

Top five gainers

  • IMG’s share price increased by N3.20 kobo to rise from N32 to N35.20 kobo per share.
  • SCOA’s share value grew by N0.85 kobo, from N8.50 kobo to N9.35 kobo per share.
  • McNichols ended trading at N5.50 kobo per share, from N5 per share – indicating an increase of N0.50 kobo.
  • May & Baker gained N2.60 kobo to end trading at N28.80 kobo, having opened with N26.20 kobo.
  • FTN Cocoa’s share value was up by N0.60 kobo, after closing at N6.66 kobo from N6.06 per share.

Top five losers

  • ALEX’s share price depreciated by N2.10 kobo, dwindling from N21.20 kobo to N19.10 kobo per share.
  • Austin Laz recorded a N0.45 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.13 kobo after opening with N4.58 kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance lost N0.36 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N3.38 kobo from N3.74 per share.
  • Prestige recorded a N0.18 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.70 kobo after opening with N1.88 kobo per share.
  • UPDC reported a decline of N0.50 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N5.50 kobo to end trading at N5 per share.

  • ETranzact reported that 72.95 million shares valued at N1.09 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Chams recorded 30.32 million shares valued at N115.76 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 27.92 million of its shares valued at N638.22 million.
  • Linkage Assurance recorded 25.03 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N44.42 million.
  • Sovereign Insurance reported 24.46 million shares valued at N84.49 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
