New Order: The Legislature Will Have No Relevance-Okotie

July 15, 2022

The pastor and founder of Household of God Church International Ministries, Rev Chris Okotie in an interview via Zoom in Abuja on AIT’s popular talk show, Jigsaw talked about his continual effort on restructuring, and the inauguration of an interim government.

The host, Gbenga Arulaba sought to know his stance on his alleged unveiling of a proposition for an interim government in his Church recently since it has no constitutional backing.

In his defence, the cleric made it clear that the will of the people is the foundation of any law. He asserted that the provision of the new order which he termed ‘Aboriginal Democracy’, the legislature will have no relevance. To him, the three arms of government as practised in Nigeria is foreign to us. And because of this system of governance, numerous national issues remain unresolved today despite the change in government since 1999 from one party to another.

“At the end of the national debate, we intend to compile the summary of the discussion and send it to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to make the necessary legal provisions that would facilitate the inauguration of the interim government.”

And when queried about the allegation of using this as a means to gain the presidency, the Rev refuted this allegation stating that if he wanted that, he would have joined one of the dominant political parties since FRESH cannot win the presidency.

He added that his desire for a change is to bring about true federalism in the nation. And true federalism is only possible when the constitution has been rewritten to reflect the true picture of Nigeria presently.

Also, once his mission for reconstructing, restructuring and inauguration of the interim government is accomplished; and normalcy is back in the nation, he would not be contesting for the office of the presidency. He continued.

In conclusion, he said he has been working on this project to give Nigeria a new phase way before those currently running for the presidency.
